Hope Chest

Part of a collaborative demonstration project with the Shelby County Office of Early Childhood and Youth (OECY), SMA is providing support services to pregnant and parenting teens who are, or were,in foster care. These young parents receive prenatal care, parenting education, connections to Early Success partners, and access to a vouchered community “baby store” – SMA’s Hope Chest – where participants receive items such as diapers, formula, clothing and cribs, car seats, high chairs, play yards, and much more.

SMA’s Hope Chest is housed at the SMA Dream Seekers Resource Center, at 1200 S. Third. For referrals and/or appointments, fill out this SMA Referral Form 2014 and contact Program Manager Tameka Daniel by calling 901.774.9582 or at daniel@smaweb.org.

Join SMA in welcoming Hailey, daughter of one of our Dream Seekers who went through our TeenPlus program.

We support young pregnant and/or parenting teens with their dreams of becoming better equipped and more prepared parents.

Ms. Darmesha came to us in her first trimester, as a homeless runaway who had not received prenatal care. She now has housing, is current on her bills, and is studying for her GED, and Hailey will soon be enrolled in a 3-star child care facility!

Dreams do come true. Help SMA support Dream Seekers!
